There is always the restriction of colour availability too. At iwantarug.com we've come up with a solution, bespoke rugs that you can colour and design online, that don’t cost a fortune. Our online rug design app is so simple to use, it can even be used on iPads and smartphones. Our online rug design software cuts down the need for the initial lengthy consultations, as it will visually show you re-coloured designs and price the finished rug too. Because of the way we operate we can bring the finished cost of the rug to that of a like for like rug offered by the major brands or large department stores such as Debenhams or John Lewis. The rug will be hand-tufted by Indian artisans using a high-grade wool and finished with a sturdy hessian backing. How do we keep costs of our bespoke handmade rugs so low? We don’t carry stock or have expensive warehousing for this project, everything is made to order and delivered directly to your door. We have reduced the middlemen from the distribution, our supply chain consists of the factory in India, iwantarug.com and you. We have reduced consultation and pricing fees by giving you the design tools to do most of the hard work. Generally, rug designers offer a colour-bank of over 1,000 colourways, most of which are very similar. We have reduced the colour selection to around 100 popular colours, many styled to tone with up-to-the-minute paint brands such as Farrow and Ball. The advantage of this reduced colour option means we can produce samples in the rug quality, so you can see the texture and feel the quality of the rug you will receive. So how do you go about designing a rug online? Our website offers a range of pre-coloured designs that use between two and ten colours, each one of these designs has either a base colour-bank with a customisable accent colour; or a design where you can change the base colour to suit your decor. Basically, you can search for a design that will suit your needs, then click on it to access the description and design tool. When you are at the design tool, you will see icons at the top, select the ‘Size’ icon and input your required size in centimetres. This will re-size the rug shape to approximate the scale of the design while giving you the price of the finished rug.
You can alter the colours of the rug by clicking or tapping the ‘Colour’ icon and selecting your desired colour. Once you are happy with the recoloured rug design click on ‘Add to Cart’. The rug design will add to your cart, but at this point, you will not be charged for the rug. You will be charged for colour samples that have been made in the quality and texture of the finished rug. The sample costs will be refunded when you place your order. If you want to share your design on social media or have a copy for your personal requirements you can download by hitting the download button. A copy of your design will also be located in the back office of your account. At check out, you can also request tweaks in both colour and design. We will facilitate these changes and send you a revised print out of the design and colour along with the samples. We will also send an alternate option when a design looks squashed or stretched. Or in the case of larger rugs, we will add elements to suit the size. Once you have approved the design, we email the design and colour to our partners in India. They will produce a working CAD template of the design, this is the template that your rug will be produced from. Once you have approved the final design your rug will go into production. It will take around six weeks to make and deliver to your door. What if I have my own rug design?
